This is the second year in a row that

we have had a “Live vs. Recorded”

Event in recent years.

Prior to the performances, Phil-

lip Chance, Recording Engineer for

the Seattle Wind Symphony, gave a

brief description and background for

the microphone set-up which con-

sisted of three “minimalist” Neu-

mann microphone configurations on

the one stand; Spaced Pair

(Neumann TLM50s), Near-

Coincident, and Coincident (stereo

mic).

Two artists performed. First up

was Violin Soloist Marie’ Rossano

with her Piano Accompanist Tania

Rivers-Moore played pieces by Bee-

thoven and Fritz Kreisler. And then

Seattle Opera Soprano Kim

Giordano and her Piano Accompa-

nist Glenda Williams played pieces

by Puccini and Gershwin.

Following the performances the

artists were given flowers with a

rousing standing ovation. Followed

by questions by the audience and

fascinating information from the

performers.
